About CarrierStat

CarrierStat exists because a lot of published trucking-compliance information is stale or wrong. Our whole product is being current and cited.

How this site works

CarrierStat is a thin layer over public government data. Lookups and statistics are computed at request time from the federal open-data feeds listed below, so a page reflects whatever the source published on its most recent refresh rather than a figure copied out once and left to age. Every number is stamped with the snapshot it came from, and the calculators show the rule or fee schedule they implement alongside the result. The only hand-maintained figures on the site are the UCR fee brackets, transcribed from the UCR Plan's published schedule and dated on the page where they appear.

Data sources & update cadence

Carrier census: FMCSA Company Census File (dataset az4n-8mr2, data.transportation.gov) — ~4.4M carrier records, refreshed daily by FMCSA.

Insurance filings: FMCSA "Motus Insur — All With History" (dataset c5y8-a4uz) — the current-generation feed FMCSA introduced with its Motus registration system. FMCSA froze the previous-generation ("legacy") insurance feeds on May 14, 2026; sites still built on them show outdated records.

UCR fees: the UCR Plan's official schedule at plan.ucr.gov, checked against the source and dated on the page where it appears.

What we never publish: carrier phone numbers, email addresses, or company-officer names from the census file. That data is publish-restricted by our own policy and is never used for outreach of any kind.

Accuracy policy

Every figure carries its source and retrieval date. If you find an error, it's a bug and we want it fixed. This site is an unofficial mirror of official data: for any decision that matters — hiring a carrier, filing a registration — verify with FMCSA (SAFER) or the relevant agency first. Nothing on this site is legal advice.

How we make money (affiliate disclosure)

CarrierStat may list partner services (for example, freight factoring providers) and earn a referral commission if you sign up through our links. Per FTC guidelines, any such link is disclosed where it appears. Partnerships never influence the data we display — the lookup and calculators show the same official figures whether or not a partner exists in that category. We do not write reviews, we do not fabricate testimonials, and we do not rank partners as "best" — we publish their published terms and cite them.
